Hillah, Iraq.
I awoke to the sound of mortar fire. I checked the time: 0430. Mortars at 4:30AM is not good news, especially if you are not the one firing them. I got up to look outside. El Sals were running around. I listed to the mortar fire, and realized there were no explosions. I considered this to be a good sign, and went back to sleep. Today we went to the range.
We fired some illumination rounds to signal the locals that the range was going hot.
The Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher is a good piece of gear. It shoots the same round as an M-203 or a M-79, but shoots LOTS of grenades quickly. There is some Marine language in these two. Be advised.
Putting a lot of fire downrange:
Me shooting the M240, and our celebrity guest Air Force Captain enjoying the AK-47.
The SAW is a great piece of gear.
We finished up by using up a lot of our grenades.
Last was an AT-4 shot. He hit the silhouette target spot on.
